umgl - to all signed teams

as far as every of the teams signed to germanys new league called umgl should be considered, there is new anti cheat tool called 'cleandod'
i think im right to say that everybody still playing supports anti cheat measurements, but this one really goes to far.

anyone ever made a testfile playing on pub and analyzed it later on ?
we were shocked to see which information this brazilian wunderkind reads out:

1. console log:

nothing serious you guess ? well, im running the parameter -condebug which saves the whole console log into a file called qconsole.log in your day of defeat folder. because of this and the log already being well over 100mb, it only shows the beginning of this file anno 2009

first point where that program clearly misses its target. and what is that 'pc-id' all about ?

2. hardware information:

seriously, who is in charge to know what kinda hardware im using ? besides that its no ones business, what is the point behind that ?

3. process lists:

this now is a pretty difficult point. cleandod scans all your running processes together with their used dlls. we could understand if it does this for the hl.exe to detect a possible cheat, but why is it important for anyone to know which programs im running in the background ? even there the program fails, but we come back to this a little later on.

just for the sake of it, i tried running some random public cheat on vac banned moviemaking account choosing a non vac server. it didnt even manage to detect that one.

4. config information:

good point to read out configs, maybe this way a player who uses illegal scripts etc. can be caught. well, not if cleandod reads out files from a different account (not active)..

5. screenshots:

screenshots nearly always detect cheaters, but what if the program doesnt even make screenshots of the game ? for my clanmate bfree there were 30 screenshots made but none of them actually showed the game. further on those screens showed icq and facebook chats which should be private.

after finding out those things we contacted the responsible umgl admins to tell them that it is not acceptable to use cleandod. we tried to be as polite as possible, still bringing up all the facts. these are some of the answers we got, which can we looke up on http://www.umgl.de if you navigate to the forums.

- why should we not use it ? the only disadvantage of this programm is that it reads out all of your pc data ? in my opinion this is exactly the right thing to do. everybody should close everything else before starting cleandod. if i am not logged into icq or facebook, nobody can see anything private.

-lets wait a little and just seperate yourself from your environment for 2 hours. if theres something important, you can be contacted by phone. i know that phoning is 'out' nowdays, but it should be no problem for two hours.

- the following rules are as of now mandatory!
players must upload the cleandod file if an admin asks for it. if somebody shouldnt do so, he will be banned from the league. if somebodys not okay with that he is not longer permitted to play in the umgl.

Cheffe``: '[...]wer damit nicht einverstanden ist mit cleandod zuspielen, kann hier fordern seinen account in der umgl löschen zulassen. es werden keine spieler zugelassen die ohne cleandod spielen. [...] wer ohne cleandod spielt und demos bewusst nicht macht , oder sie nicht nach admin forderung rausgibt wird für die saison gebant. [...] und wenn ich dann privates zeug von leuten mit im program habe, dann ist es halt so.
wir haben auf unserer seite einen megaupload installiert. da könnt ihr alle eure daten reinsetzten. die sind dann für die admins zugänglich. diese daten werden dann natürlich von uns vertraulich behandelt.[...]

- anyone not agreeing with these rules can delete his umgl account. nobodys permitted to play without cleandod. people aware of this and not playing with cleandod/demos or not uploading them after an admin demands them will be banned. and if ill find private stuff of people in their cleandod files, its like that. We have installed a server to upload your cleandod files. these will be accessible to admins. these files will be handled confidential of course.'

just a quick best of. personally, i wouldnt trust admins who are known to have no clue of the game, besides that demanding demos/files how and when they want just to bully people.

if youre interested, just test it yourself while running on pub. tell your clanmates/compatriots about it and post your opinions down here. a new league is always good for 1.3, but not with these circumstances.

I don't used cleandod yet but all i can say is that in this league admins are ppl who don't really know about this game ;/ always enough in eye demos + sometimes screens (if it was dodguard on the server) and there was no problem ;x now they want to create something "supposedly" better but what for? if it doesn't work as expected?

as a reaction to this post, our whole team was kicked out of the umgl, blade crow and me were banned for no apparent reason without making a statement first. the argument was that we were trying to talk bad about the league itself, eventhough that was never case. we only critzied the programm itself and i personally wasnt happy about the admins behaviour. nothing more.

okay the UMGL ban its a jock or ? ... thats not good admin work all players have the right to say what its not okay...!

So wir haben in unseren Team RenameD beschloßen solange diese Willkür entscheidung stehen bleibt wir kein Einziges Spiel machen werden in der UMGL den jeder spieler/clan sollte das recht behalten zu sagen was sie wollen und wo sie es wollen und kein admin hat darauf einfluss auf welcher seite jemand seinen post verfasst.

Hoffe das Alle Teams sich anschließen um so was endlich zu stopen.

We have decided that our team (RenameD) will not play any match at all as long as this decision stays as it is. every player / team should have the right to say their opinion, whatever it looks like and where ever. No admin should have influence on which site anyone posts his critics.

As a USA league admin, player and euro league participant all I can say is that having a anticheat client like CleanDoD is good for the league. We play a 10 years old game and most of the admins are already committed with daily duties so less time to analyse possible suspects instead of having playing. Thats why CleanDoD WOULD BE a good tool for DoD because it fully analyses while you are in-game. TBH I close all my instant messages programs when I play so its not the anticheat fault to snaping some chats... Its players fault. Also, running and scanning both programs and cfg is excellent because it can prevail people aledging things that CleanDoD can say otherwise.

The only bad things is that CleanDoD isnt being updated anymore. So the cheat database isnt secure as it was. And given that cheaters always updates their .exe programs its pointless to use an old fashioned CleanDoD anticheat tool.

Moreover the league shouldn't suspended anyone from not agreeing with the tournament rules or something. However the league is also explicit that when you sign up you AGREE with tournament rules so though you may not agree (like I don't agree) our team uses the anti cheat client because we need to comply with the tournament rules.

Its good to combine many different abilities from known anticheat tools.

Might be so that umgl admins aint the right people to analyze anything. Who am i to judge. But interesting that this noise is coming from you blank1. Wasnt it your case that has been on the table last years?

ist kein problem mehr. die UMGL wir morgen down gehen. daher geht dieses thema wohl auch keinen mehr was an. stärkt alle eurem cheater freund den rücken und bewirkt was in der szene. ich persöhnlich bin schon zurück getreten. morgen wird der shootah die seite offiziel beenden. hf gl allen die dabei mitbewirkt haben das eine einigermassen cheaterfreie szone beendet wurde. geht weiterhin mit 8 teams in der enemydown cups zocken wo der sieger ( danke blank1 cheater ) fest steht.

Out of all leagues , this one takes the retard cake... what a sad bunch of wankers all together. and IDSL failed bigtime, UMGL aswell... cant believe people even put time and effort in this crap , when its obvious that :

1. Its a german league
2. The admins are german.
3. Germans are in benefit ... just like UDCL allways was.

Every anticheattool should know what programs you are using in the background. this argument is fail :<
But nevertheless. cleandod seems not to detect a lot of hacks (unless they are very old).
They wanted to release cleandod 3.0 in june but they never did :(

i think what ripper says is completely right. for example there is a prog called "speedautoclicker" which allows you to fire with your pistol or m1 carbine like with a machine gun ( which was once created for some programmers ). and your right , the statement of cheffe shows the "quality" of administration!

Just like I wrote in my previous post: CleanDoD isn't UPDATED since last year when the website's database got hacked. So yeah it doesn't detect new cheats only old versions of them!

However despite this its a good tool because it takes random screenshots and scan your cfg, .ddls and programs used!

Blank - what's the big problem? Sure the application is pretty annoying, but it still lets you check pretty comprehensively if someone is cheating. I think that's a worthwhile sacrifice.

To respond to your remarks:

1. console log:
The only thing I can see this output is my in-game console, including commands you put in.

AFAIK PC-ID would be a unique ID for your computer determined by the CleanDod App. This would let admins check if someone was using the same PC on multiple STEAM_ID's.

2. hardware information:
There are drivers with inbuilt wallhacks, so this displays GFX card and current driver installed.

3. process lists:
Most wall-hacks run as a separate EXE file. This can be renamed, so showing the DLL's associated is crucial to determining what the EXE actually is.

4. config information:
I haven't had a problem with this taking CFG's from another steam account. It still reports all my correct CFG's though.

5. screenshots:
Do not seem to work for me either. But when apps overlay the dod screen they are indeed captured. The easiest solution is to turn off these programs.

If you're concerned with people seeing overlays, or your running applications - turn them off. I for one can't deal with skype/steam overlaying if I'm playing, so another good reason not to.

The reason i've written such a long rebuttal is that your complaints are really very weak - seeing as you're denigrating what is an excellent cheat detection app, and an asset to the competitive community.

This is a group of people trying to make a cup in your dead game, and all you can think to do is call them newbs and criticise them because they impose rules which they think makes it fair.

You yourself are a proven cheater, I suspect you still do cheat, and you're whining about this anti-cheat because it's so damned "inconvenient". You've made no good point as to why it shouldn't be used in several hundred words of total shit.

The anti cheat I mean. The league failing is probably a combination of. Current state of 1.3. Too much german oriented(mostly language) and blanks whining.
