I worked hard the past 3 days to make it possible, and today I’m here to share this ultimate list of the best teams & players ever on Day of Defeat : Source.

God knows how much we love these games even though we often complained about them, the reg or Valve itself. The fact is, we couldn’t ever find a FPS game that gives us so much feelings.

As for 1.3 list, please feel free to notice if there are any mistakes for any team or player or flag, so I can correct it immediately, but bear in mind that the rankings are made according to my thoughts, so you may not agree with me.

Didn't Druidz were actually at least 95% same than vib?
I don't really understand why directhit is in danish list tho, did they won anything or smth ever? Same as druidz thing: vipers = directhit.. ?
WRecCER (badbeat) & duStii/henazz (Gummybears) belongs to finnish list too imo as they were better than many heavies in that list.
Also ferratus = afterlife.
I'm sure Russia could be in source too as they had at least one "best" team and some good players also.

That's a great job, I agree with almost everything actually, either for France and International. +fkg for france ? (and I'd say +ReVo too, we had the almost the same level as some mentionned here ^^ but I may not be objective here)

The only thing : team rankings are mainly composed of oldschool players. The game was not the same, are they really better than the new waves? I guess we will never know.

#8 Best Russian team: WanteD / RAGE Multigaming, should be mentioned. Aswell add IIIaiTaH (w/e :D) and ZaMe5 at least, maybe some other WanteD's players (Doc? XRM?). Maybe hungman too.

If talking about Russia, u've should add zJ first

the tigii vs rnl discussion is endless, but I feel tigii was dominant for a longer period of time and vs better opponents

but then again, I'm biased :D

Yeah coz if check like this there missing portugal, georgia etc small countries but example Russia is pretty big in dods and they have pretty big scene still running and deffo belongs to "major" countries even if they aren't "top" country.

list seems okay at most points, some things i'd have done different:

spanish team:

JsP!, PePPeR!, kalinka (oWnage, Squall,Celebeth, rollover, korsAkov)
WvR, diwaRd (fuchu!,hoyoxA)
bittersweet (kalinka, noiR)

also i gotta agree with Bouhh here, your dreamteam list is heavily based upon older players. Keep in mind the level of play especially in the cadre era was not as progressed as it was later at dods prime. They went inactive at a smart point (when atrocious was about to take away their nimbus for good, luckily they managed to protest their way out of a final battle) and their comebacks havent been as impressive.

My personal dreamteam with players i havent had the chance to team up with over a longer period would look like:

xyfo, danger, berti (turtz, Azapp)
marshall, mOu (RiN)
Kyubi

captains: light_addict & vanargand

reasoning:
danger : probably the strongest individual player on the rifle if i count out players ive been teaming with. id put danger in that category cause i just played like 3 weeks with him. doesnt really count tbh. The typical madfragger on the rifles you need.
xyfo: the perfect second rifle. the great thing about xyfo is that even if hes having a bad game, hes always putting down a solid score and does a solid amount of cap breaks. mr. consistency.
berti: the third light and probably the most underrated role of every team: the calm player who can lead a team. berti has been one of those players who really really impressed me every game he played. so much gamesense and always working for the team and not his individual score. the reason why berti stands out from other excellent players of this role (such as turtz, torb, lommelun, etc) is that he was able to frag consistently while focussing more on capping.

heavys:
marshall: insane aiming with an absurd ammount of gameknowlegde. had the chance to play maxlan with him being our standin. he had to jump in as one of our players had to go to the hospital and leave early. the guy didnt bring his mouse, mousepad, nothing. still he managed to be probably the best player on the entire lan, doing even a full-ace vs oXmoze in the semis.
probably one of the greatest players of all time.
mOu: never been the shining star in any of his teams while still being their clutch player on the heavy. really sick player i rate highly.

sniper:
kyubi: as sniper i would pick kyubi. while that might come as a suprise to a lot of people i think that his style of play is the way to play in source. many people emulated the more campy 1.3 style, while kyubi on the other hand was a super aggressive sniper, more like a 4th rifle who was always pushing for caps. one of the reasons why oXmoze was that strong.

captains: vanargand and light_addict. never been the great individual players, but they managed to build a long lasting top team out of the scratch and lead them to sucess over a long period

general feedback on your list:
your dreamteams just seem filled with people getting good scores on the scoreboard. But that is not what the game is about. Its about getting caps. There can only be a certain amount of topfraggers in each team. Madfraggers are what makes mediocre teams good. But its the teamplayers that fullfill a certain role within each team that make good teams great.
People like turtz, juL, ToRb, Lommelun, mOu, berti, sagitarius, exonity, etc. are the ones easily overlooked while they were probably the key players of their teams.

having a german dreamteam and not giving hogan a spot in it is blasphemie. the guy has been playing in the best german and later european teams for 5 years and managed to build a team out of nonames and make them a great team. and to top it all of: he had a time where he was the best heavy in europe. period. the reason he never managed to stay in topteams for a long time is due to his personality, which is difficult to come by at times. that doesnt take away from his skill though :)

Also I agree with michii that some players are overlooked due to not being madfraggers. I even put turtz in my overall dreamteam because he was the purest of teamplayers. Klanne is in the same category as him, very overlooked but super important to atrocious success.

I think boom would be classed before mattii and bac for uk all time heavy, he was unpopular for the most part as a uk player so was often overlooked for team uk for that fact, but was a better player than both. Thats ny opinion anyway....

Don't know how Azza got into the dream team, Disko was better light than him and still they were behind me and Jelz quite a bit skillwise.

Also one of the better lights in DK was JJ but he is not even mentioned, he was a better light than most on that list.

Also Ekvall as one of the best players in Sweden.. Oh god what is this.

i'd add in russian list players from Angriff / Legion such as sss22, doom_shneider, Digi, Leonid K, kin. they're legends. deserve to be there. and tarantula ofc who actually played for SweetDeath but that doesn't matter.

ColO was actually a fucking beast, and noiR is before bittersweet!! ( i remember playing noiR, couldnt even move that i died. :D)
