CSSMIXES.co.uk are holding a one off DOD:S competition (Operation Neptune) starting tomorrow, Sunday 6th June to commemorate the D-Day landings. The D-Day landings began at 06:30 and after 8 hours of fighting the Allies had cleared the beaches and began moving in-land. We will begin the competition at midday and it will finish at 8pm.
Rules of Engagement:
- Players must have a valid PayPal account (for prize money transfer)
- Cheating will result in a permanent ban from cssmixes
- Only mixes that began between 12:00-20:00 on 6th June are valid
- Only mixes played on DOD_STRAND (Omaha beach) are valid
- Players that finish ranked 1st, 2nd & 3rd will win the prize money
- Operation Neptune Ranking
- Winners will be announced after match demos have been reviewed
Prize Money:
£100 (120 EUR)
£50 (60 EUR)
£20 (25 EUR)
DOD_STRAND is installed on all DOD:S servers, if you don't have the map installed simply connect to the server and the map will automatically download.
If you're thinking of taking part you might want to start practicing now. Good luck to everyone that takes part.

Might play one or two mixes but I fear that dod_strand + prizemoney will result in a proning massacre.

You get more points if you win, you lose points if you lose. Yes you'll be fragging but if you don't complete the objectives you won't get the extra points.

so you get put with a random team and the most defuses/bomb plants you get wins ?

it's an actual match. The team with the most points wins. I'm actually coding the plugin now to give additional points to the players that blow up or defuse the points too. This will most certainly stop the fragfest that you're worried about.

noone said it was all about that. dod_strand does have points that you blowup though. it will be better that players are given points for doing that otherwise it's just a slugfest on the beach :-)

The game plugin now records stats for bomb detonations and bomb defusals. You get an additional 5 points for each.

6+ kill streak = 10 pts
5 kill streak = 6 pts
4 kill streak = 4 pts
3 kill streak = 2 pts
2 kill streak = 1 pts
team win = 5 pts
team lose = 5 pts
team draw = 2 pts
detonation = 5 pts
defuses = 5 pts
Gonna try to play some but first I need to study :D

cool thing, but could u please add the normal matchconfigs on the server? i uploaded them for you here:

You've entered the wrong steam ID in your profile. Go to "Edit Profile" and make sure your steamID is correct.

just played one and I need to say that is quite hard to convey the css guys that they have to rush beach and break through instead of proning somewhere on the beach ;)

Damn on axis I had 41 - 3 but people who got killed more get more points because they can do more streaks. I just have 3 6man streaks ...

Well it's not really meant to be a fragfest is it. Complete the objectives for extra points, you might die along the way :-) It's a problem that I never thought about though, good players don't die so they're not getting killstreak points.

I've now opened it up to all maps. In hindsight, 8 hours of dod_strand is a bad idea.

you can play on your own. Just join a team and play. That's pretty much the whole point of a mixes system. For when you clan mates aren't on or you don't have any friends :-)

w00t. I just connected for someone who disconnected during the match and I played maybe 2 mins after Round was over (which I couldn't see anywhere before). My team lost and I got minus points. :

I hate to admit it because i do love the game but DOD:S is fairly dead in terms of users. Steam stats show only 5,000 players in the entire world play it daily. My attempts to get some of CS:S players into playing it have failed it's fair to say. Also the feedback from the DOD:S players themselves has left me speechless.
Such a pity.

I used to play DOD: S a lot I thought I was alright at the game but after playing it today I have learnt how bad I am :)
