Last week, I received information regarding the announcement of the
GamOnLive LAN event announcement.
I had my own enquires about this event when I received the information through my mail and discussed it with the guys over at SexyGamers. They have release
this statement on their site. Bare with me, it was translated by trusted google!
Their will be an unprecedented event in France and the world of eSports. Their is still some gray areas are spreading disorder in the light of the seriousness and reality of the event, as no major partners or sponsors appear on the website. At first glance, from the announcement of the event, We were not sure if it would go ahead, however we have spoke to the organizers and they are confident the LAN will be held. Now the question is under what conditions? This is our problem. No sponsorship, a poor connection, short time to set up the event. In short, as the saying goes: wait & see! I confess personally that even if I am not optimistic, I still want to believe! The price of the place is set at € 40!
At the moment, this event looks like it will go ahead. Their looks to be more than 1600 Ethernet cables, 1600 computers, and above all 1600 gamers playing it out at the “Arena Stade Couvert” located in Liévin, France. It is one of the biggest and most prestigious halls in the North of Paris.
This circuit, open to all, is composed of three qualifying steps which award points depending on the results of teams and gamers. These results will directly influence an important ranking that provides access to the ultimate step: the Gamonlive Grand Final.These points will be brought into play the 17th, 18th and 19th of February, 2012.
On the site, it says their will be a prize fund so far of three thousand euro's, the winner getting an amazing
two thousand!!!
Starcraft 2 – 128 players
Counter-Strike : Source - 64 teams of 5 players
Counter-Strike 1.6 – 32 teams of 5 players
Team Fortress 2 – 32 teams of 6 players
Day of Defeat : Source – 32 teams of 6 players
League of Legends – 32 teams of 5 players
Trackmania Canyon – 64 players
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 – 32 teams of 5 players
Battlefield 3 – 64 teams of 5 players

#6 Last time I attended a non-byoc lan, we lost the 3rd place match because a teammate's comp crashed and opponents fullcaped several times playing 6v5, how is that fair when it's even not your computer ? ^^
#1 What's the matter with byoc ? the trip ? to let your comp by night ? that everyone may use its own configs ? It's no troll i really wonder
Well, if it happens (i still have doubts) I'll be there too, can't miss mj in France !

It's a pain for a majority of ukers (myself included!) to get pc's from the uk over to france, the costs involved are horrible. If there was an option to rent pc's for this(and if it happened) I'm sure we'd attend.

2 and a half month before the event, no sponsors... So far it doesn't really look like a serious thing imo. If it happens, it's gonna be epic, but so far I just can't believe it. :(

If I'd go, it would be a case of train -> eurostar -> french rapists car/train. Give us the option to rent pc's!! :P

Just find a guy with his driving licence ! Then take the ferry from dover to dunkerque ! This is what I do when I come back to France. Ferry is like 40 50 pounds so @ 3 or 4 it's cheap.

#9 someone is able to bring his pc.. someone is not due to obvious circumstances. so LAN where all participants supposed to be in same conditions won't bring you fairness. dunno.. i played at 8 lans and i don't see anything is wrong if your pc crashed.. shit happens, nothing more, it's common situation - this time ur pc crashed, another time - pc of ur opponent.
i just used to russian lans where u're not able to bring even ur config, only headset, mouse, mousepad, keyboard. pure skill and teamplay are decisive factors. that's fairness. peace :x

hahaha vana what a load of bullshit? :D we never capped several times! but if u need an excuse i can understand u trying to use that as the reason u lost! but do not forget u lost 2 to the same team ;)

Ok I don't remember if you fullcaped several times actually I wanted it to look dramatic :p (though I'm almost sure you did at least once) BUT it's not even the matter here, you played 6v5 for quite a long time and I've never seen something that lame knowing it's not our computers and we aren't responsible if they crash. That's my point, you can't blame anyone but yourself when you have PC issues in a byoc lan, but what if it happens in a non-byoc ?
Btw even if you hadn't scored at all we can guess we would have if it was 6v6 (especially on harri allies) ^^
About GamOnLive : I've read an interview of the organization made by the css scene and comments show their community is at least as sceptic as we are... hopefully more/better news to come soon.

amazed anyone still pisses about with PCs anyway. Get 70fps constant on a 13 inche macbook pro with an 8600m gt. This travel excuse hurts me.

i tho byoc does mean that u're able to bring ur pc but in any case there will be a pc for you! if not it's epic bs not lan ;D
i host byoc LAN somewhere in Frankfurt trainstation. pay fee is 10 euros! komm zu mir!

#40 All the byoc lans i attended to in France, were sponsored by LDLC which gave you the possibility to rent a pc for 10-15€, why do you say that ?

#47 I'd rather not take my PC over abroad, due to risk of breakage.
#40 there's always a lack of coverage of french lans, and whenever we ask the normal "byoc?" question we're met with a sarcastic answer on how a uker wouldn't lan abroad due to some shit excuse.
I'd love the love another oppertunity to go LAN, and after speaking with my team last night I'm not alone, but only if we would have the ability to rent a comp.
If we can rent a pc for this lan, I'm fairly confident vye will attend!
