zpgaming.eu LAN #2 Cancelled

It's with great dissapointment we have to inform everyone who planned to attend zpgaming.eu LAN #2 that we have decided to cancel the event, simply because of too few registered teams. At this point only three teams have proceeded to pay the registration fee.

After our first LAN event six months ago we had great hopes that the second edition would be far much better, both when it comes to the organization behind it it but also with more teams attending. After reaching out to the community and asking for possible dates and teams who would attend an event in February we had over 30 teams originally signing up. In the end only three of those teams actually registered.

What will happen now? Will we plan another event later this year?

The first question is easy to answer; We will continue as before and support the Day of Defeat: Source community with online activities. However, we see the cancellation of zpgaming.eu LAN #2 is a big defeat both for ourselves and for the international Day of Defeat: Source community. Our motivation level to try to do something again took a big hit with this. So to answer the second question; Only time will tell.

Regarding our continued efforts to support the Day of Defeat: Source community; Apart from organizing the zpgaming.eu League Cup we will during the spring continue our co-operation with ESL and create joint leagues and cups with them. More information will be released soon!

Last but not least; The zeroPoint! Gaming management would like to thank our partners ROCCAT and Speed-Link for their support and we would also like to thank the teams who actually tried to make an effort into coming to the LAN, especially zeroPoint! Gaming, CASCA and LeiSure who were the only teams paying the registration fee.

Over and out,
The zeroPoint! Gaming management

#7 Dods hadn't real eu. lan before the zP lan 1 and were really active. It's just a back to reality: Lan is very cool ,traveling seems to be very cheap but i facts organising a tournament which can be a compromise for evrybody is quite impossible.

I think evryboddy has to admit it: we're all 20-25 y.o. more or less; for most of us we havn't finished our studies, paying for some their rent mothly and some have no income. The problem is just about money and schedule, not about motivation. It it was about, ppl wouldn't spend so much time on zP for tournaments [just like the last zP league 370 Comments in less than 7 days] ... but Imo evrybody should remember that ESL+DoD:S+Internet <= 50€/ month
zP league: [100 € - 350 €] for a tournament, including travel ...

My case is in that way: I'm 21 student and I play with 17 & 18 Yo ppl. I have no fixed income And not evryone of cya can afford a LAN abroad, I'd like to make thoose events, buts It's no way, for us as for you.

#17 i didn't see it that way. last few months LANs were growing or coming back. At least in Germany Wargames 3 and an international LAN in the form of the zP! LAN. In my eyes it was better than ever before, LANs are what keeps a game really competitive. Now with zP! LAN 2 cancelled it's a major setback.

Problem is like a "What was earlier? The chicken or the egg?"-story. Companies in eSports have problems sticking money in a game like Day of Defeat: Source, they want to see some international LANs and gamers find the costs for an international LAN without the backup of any MGC too much.

agree with you in some way, but still the main reason dod is dead (imo) is the question u do about what was earlier, chicken or egg.

To the ones saying Netherlands is a bad place to have a LAN like this in then do something yourself. Me and Jeroen are limited to where we live, in this case Jeroen lives in Netherlands so we tried to have it there. I have organized events in Sweden before and I doubt we would get more then 4-5 teams coming here even with an active scene.
